301 Clovelly Lane, Chestertown, Queen Anne’s County, MD
The original Clovelly Farm was established in Devon, Pennsylvania in 1947. The family moved the farm to the current Chestertown property in 1959. While originally the family concentrated on a beef cattle operation, the 460 acre farm has now diversified to include row crops, wholesale nursery production, 10 acres of vineyard, and a landscaping business, as well as a smaller herd of Black Angus cattle.
The first grapes were planted in 2009 and now cover 10 acres with 9 varieties of grapes. The vineyard overlooks the Chester River and is only a short distance south of historic Chestertown. The first wine was bottled in April of 2014. Three varieties were bottled including Vidal Blanc, Rosé, and Riverside Red.
