Clovelly takes home three medals in 2016 Comptroller's Cup Competition

Clovelly wines have earned three silver medals at the Comptroller's Cup Competition. Held on June 8th 2016, it is a blind competition where judges know only the composition of the wines, which are entered from across the state. The silver medals were awarded to 2015 Traminette, 2015 Vidal Blanc, and the as yet unreleased 2014 red blend, Hambleton Creek.

Clovelly wins 3 medals at 2016 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition (FLIWC)

The Finger Lakes Wine competition now at its 15th year honors wines from all over the world with close to 4,000 wines entered and tasted by a blindfolded international jury. Each wine is judged by itw own merit not in comparison to other category entries.

Clovelly received silver honors for its 2015 Vidal Blanc and a silver as well for its Pinot Grigio sporting a touch of vidal in its 89% to 11% profile. Devil's Reach one of the winery's signature reds with a balanced cabernet/merlot blend garnered a bronze at he FLIWC..

All three wines were just released for the riverside vineyard's summer season.

Clovelly Brings Home Four Medals at Maryland Governors Cup

The Maryland Wineries Association proudly announces the winners of the 27th Annual Maryland Governor’s Cup Competition. The judging for the prestigious awards took place on Sunday, August 23 in Timonium with over 20 wine experts from the region who tasted over 150 different wines, including sparkling, whites, rosés and reds.
Clovelly Vineyards was pleased to be awarded silver medals for the 2013 Devils Reach and 2014 Vidal Blanc, as well as bronze medals for the 2013 Chambourcin and 2014 Rose. All of our award winning wines are currently available at farmer’s markets, area liquor stores and restaurants, and of course at the vineyard.

Clovelly Brings Home Three Medals at Maryland Winemasters Choice Awards

The Winemasters Choice Awards is a competition among all wines made in Maryland wines, judged by winemakers and assistant winemakers of Maryland. It provides an opportunity for winemakers to taste and critique the wines of Maryland along with other judges, all with an eye on highlighting the best wines produced by our industry.
Clovelly Vineyards was pleased to be awarded a silver medal for the yet unreleased 2013 Chambourcin and bronze medals for the 2014 vintages of Vidal Blanc and Rose. The 2013 Chambourcin will be released in July of 2015. Both the Vidal Blanc and Rose are currently available at farmer’s markets, area liquor stores and restaurants, and of course at the vineyard.

Clovelly Welcomes New Winemaking Consultant  

Clovelly Vineyards is pleased to announce the introduction of our new winemaking consultant, Matthieu Finot.
Matthieu was born in Crozes Hermitage in the Rhone Valley of France. Coming from a family of viticulturists and wine lovers, Matthieu was predisposed to continue his family's pursuit of making and enjoying wine. He first studied viticulture and oenology at Beaune, in the heart of Burgundy. After graduating in 1995, Matthieu worked in many different wine regions around France including Rhone Valley, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Provence, and Jura. He then worked in Italy and South Africa to gain experience around the world before settling in Virginia. Since arriving in 2003, Matthieu has worked with wineries throughout the state. Since 2007, Matthieu has been the head winemaker at King Family Vineyards in Crozet: one of the leading wineries in Virginia. In 2008, Matthieu and his brother Thomas started Domaine Finot, a winery located in the French Alps where their focus is in organic production of ancient varietals.

Matthieu joins the Clovelly team as a consultant in our ongoing production of wines made from 100% Clovelly Vineyards grapes. We look forward to the benefit of his insight and expertise!
